What is Applied Behavioral Analysis?

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) refers to a style of teaching that uses a series of trials to shape a desired behavior or response. Goals are developed through the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP).

Skills are then broken down into their simplest components and then taught to your child through a system of reinforcement. ABA is more than just a behavior management technique; it is a step-by-step approach that teaches the following: language skills, social skills, play skills, fine-motor skills, self-help skills, as well as academic knowledge needed to successfully mainstream these children into traditional classroom settings. In essence, the program teaches children to learn how to learn.
